The new Coolermaster X6 CPU cooler

The first time I saw this CPU cooler at a Coolermaster display booth in OC Nation, I became completely obsessed with it.
Undoubted master in the art of processor cooling technology, Coolermaster once again comes up with the X6, another automotive themed cooler in the lines of the V8, V10 and V6 GT.

Honeycomb fin structure increased the surface area within the same space which makes it more efficient in heat dissipation. More fins means better cooling. As for this cooler the hex-shaped fin is larger than a normal flat heatsink fin.

The copper pipes and heat spreader are nickel-plated.
Angled heatsink base orientation thus creating an optimal airflow.
Intake fans which are usually located in the front of the case will push air towards the X6’s fan then to the rear exhaust fans dispersing the warm air.

With the X6 user’s guide, first-time Coolermaster heatsink users would find it an easy task mounting the cooler to the motherboard.
It would take around 4-6minutes to complete the installation.

Accessory box contains brackets and backplate for both AMD and Intel, thermal paste, rubber grommets, bolts, nuts and wrench plus Philips screw to hex adaptor. Rubber grommets should be adhered to the mounting holes before putting the X6 in place.

It’s a lot safer to use the Philips – Hex adapter over the other wrench as it may damage the circuit board.

One must be carefull when choosing a case, motherboard and ram for the build with this cooler to avoid hassles. I suggest you go for a casing with a depth of 200mm for the cooler to fit in. As for the motherboard, go for the models whose width is 9.6 in (244 mm) or bigger. If in case you’ll be using an old/existing motherboard narrower than the recommended size then buy the rams with the standard sized heatsinks.

Next is the temperature comparison.
Done reading the temps, before and after installation of the Coolermaster X6 cooler.
Before – using Intel’s stock cooler

After – with the X6 cooler installed

Averaging a 4-5 degree Celsius decrease in temps during normal use compared to the stock fan! Not bad for a heatsink with 6 (six) heatpipes.

Overall the Coolermaster X6 cooler is a bang for the buck cooler (priced at 2550 pesos) when it comes to aesthetics and performance!
This kickass cooler is well suited for gamers and overclockers alike.

CoolerMaster has a few new products for your CPU.

We stopped by CoolerMaster at Computex to take a look at what's new. First up are two new water coolers, the Eisberg 120 and 240, which differ in their size of radiator and the addition of a second 120mm fan.

Both feature a copper base plate and are open loop systems, so user can choose the coolant. The fan(s) measure 120 x 120 x 25 mm (4.7 x 4.7 x 1 in) and have a speed of 1600 RPM. Supported sockets include: Intel LGA 775/1156/1155/1366/2011 and AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+/FM1/FM2. Look for these in early July.

In August, CoolerMaster will be launching an air cooler called the TPC 612. It will have a single 120 mm fan, but air flow and noise information weren't yet available. It features four 6mm heatpipes, a flat vapor chamber design, a nickel plated copper base, and aluminum alloy fins. The dimensions are 145 x 79 x 165 mm (5.7 x 3.11 x 6.5 in), and for the heatsink itself 120 x 120 x 25 mm (4.7 x 4.7 x 1 in)

Other upcoming products discussed, but not available for photography are the AL120 and 240, plus an upcoming flagship. The AL120/240 will be similar to the Eisberg, but will have a flatter water block. There will also be a low-cost version of the AL120 that's still unnamed, but targeted for budget users around $50.

Coming late July will be V8GT-VC-X, the upcoming flagship air cooler. It will have a square vapor chamber in the base of the cooler, made of nickel-plated copper, along with eight heatpipes. Expect dual 140 mm fans with LEDs with fins made of aluminum alloy.
