I've been thinking a good topic to discuss and this one come on my mind..
well, I have 2 different HDD drive one is 2.5" WD scorpio Black 250 gb @ 16mb
cache @ 7200rpm and the other one is 3.5" 500gb WD carviar blue same 16mb cache
@7200rpm, which one will perform better performance when it comes to gaming,
video editing, and Rendering?
First of all the best western Digital for high performance gaming and video rendering is the WD VelociRaptor Here's some info from WD tech specs:
WD Caviar Blue
- Performance and reliability for everyday computing
- Ideal for office and home computers
WD Scorpio Black
- Desktop Class performance
- High performance drive for power computing notebooks
- High end portable device
Based on the reviews I've read the 2.5 Scorpio Black excels in mobile HDD andwhile caviar blue is not in the top charts in desktop HDD. In my opinion since WD claiming that Scorpio black is desktop class performance. I can say that WD Scorpio is better than caviar blue.
but, is it advice-sable to use a 2.5" HDD rather than 3.5"hdd for desktop? 3.5" HDD is too bulky for a ITX build.
yes. WD scorpio black is 2.5 right? aside from 2.5 is being smaller its also low power, low noise and low heat too... If you opt for better performance you can also consider SSD's.
Here's the Western Digital HDD specs sheet. This will help you compare all WD HDD products
If your building for ITX High performance PC. You should consider SSD drive just like shamrage say I've build ITX systems in the past and I used WD scorpio blue/black, and Seagate Momentus and corsair neutron SSD's. Non of the WD HDD's I tried beat the SSD
I only drink diluted water.
Wow! thanks guys!!
